Burdock has been traditionally known as a blood purifier, what we now call an alterative.
The alterative action is to open the body’s natural channels of elimination (lungs, kidneys, bowel, liver, skin, lymphatic system), enhancing the body’s natural detoxing process. Burdock root works mainly on the following organs and systems to help safely move wastes from the body more effectively.
liver
kidneys
skin
lymphatic system
vegan
vegetarian

🌿Powder:
Suggested use:
1/8-1/2 teaspoon of powder in a shot of water (drinking both powder and water), prepared as a tea, or in food and smoothies.
🌿Root slices
Burdock root pieces are most beneficial when simmerd for 20 minutes and the resulting water drunk as a lightly sweet and earthy pleasant tasting tea. A tea made in this way is called a decoction.
A traditionally made tea of burdock root, simply steeped in hot water for 5-15 minutes, has only a little of the possible benefits of burdock root!
Why?
Burdock is a dense root and needs a lot more than a little hot water to break down cell walls and extract the nutrients into the water.
Suggested use:
One teaspoon of dried burdock per 1 cup of water in a pot. With the lid on, bring burdock to a boil, and reduce heat, and simmer for 20 minutes. More water can be added as needed. Cool and drink. Tea can be stored in the fridge for up to two days.
Start with drinking half a cup a day and work up to as many as three cups a day.
