Castile comes in 2 main forms. Liquid and solid bars like you see above. They both lather generously and come unscented or with a fragrance (ideally from an essential oil or other chem-free source). But what is it actually made from? The truest castiles are made with olive oil as it was originally made in Castile, Spain. Today, it can be made with several plant based oils like coconut. Added to these is an alkali, usually sodium or potassium hydroxide, and voila! A earth-friendly soap that has been around for ages!
